About
Listening for the beating heart of multimedia journalism.
Leanna Bressan
I am a multimedia journalist with extensive experience in the online and digital world. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Communications degree at MacEwan University, where I majored in Journalism with a minor in Professional Communications.
During this time, I worked at a number of companies doing social media, web design, advertising, and marketing. I am also the Online Editor for The Griff, MacEwan University's Student Publication. I maintain their social media accounts, upload all works to the site, create and curate the bi-weekly newsletter, and started their bi-weekly newscast, The Griff on TV. Through my work with The Griff, the digital team was nominated for Best Online Media Presence at the JHM Journalism Awards in 2024. We went on to win Student Publication of the Year.
In my career, I aspire to use my voice to educate and curate news stories for radio and TV. I worked at Global News Radio Edmonton and 630 CHED as a reporter for my placement, where I received extensive training on the vocal platform.
The Water We Doing podcast that I worked on over the summer of 2024 won the Best Science Podcast at the Canadian Journalism Awards.
I have been involved with and led projects in visual, audio, and digital journalism, where I furthered my graphic design, photography, and web design skills.
